1. The VirtualBox 6.0.14 VBoxDarwinAdditions.pkg is now notarized. Note that this will only help if gatekeeper inside the VM can phone home to Apple to check the notarization status (we will not do any stapling in the foreseeable future, which would make the package work when offline).
2. Virtualbox has the option for a MacOS virtual machine in it’s New VM dialog, but we will need to make further adjustments to make it truly Mac-ready. Pop open Virtualbox, and Create a new Virtual Machine. Name this MacOS Mojave, and set it to Mac OS X (64-bit).
3. Oct 21, 2016 If you are running VirtualBox on a real Mac then it is legal to run a virtual copy of macOS as a virtual machine. As you would be doing this on a real Mac it is covered by the Macs license for macOS. Under no circumstances is it legal to try running macOS in VirtualBox on a none Apple Mac computer.
4. VirtualBox 6.1.2 will not run Catalina 10.15.2 and later guests. Virtualbox 6.1.0 added support for booting APFS. Unfortunately there is a problem if you do not have 10.15.1 version of Install macOS Catalina.app. There is a bug in VirtualBox which is exposed by 10.15.2 and later versions of boot.efi.

Pop open Virtualbox, and Create a new Virtual Machine. Name this MacOS Mojave, and set it to Mac OS X (64-bit). Set the RAM to 4096 MB (or higher if you can achieve it!). When creating the disk, you can use either format versions.
